Jorge Navarrete Martínez

Chairman

Designation period: 2006-2010

Graduated in Economic and Administrative Sciences of the University of Chile, was the founder and first General Manager of National Television of Chile (TVN), (1968- 1971). In March of 1990, general director of TVN and after executive Director, position that occupied until 1994; from April of 2000 and for more of a year was Chairman of the board of National Television and at “Señal Internacional S.A”. It was member of the directory of Codelco and adviser of the executive president of the State Chilean Coopper  Organization. President and/or Director of numerous companies, among them VTR Cablexpress. He is president of the Corporation Tiempo 2000. In gremial matter, he was founding and first President of the National Association of Television (ANATEL) and President and Director of the Social Mass Media Federation, that join as a Union the  Associations of the written press, the broadcasting radios and the television.

Herman Chadwick Piñera

Vice Chairman of CNTV

Attorney at Law, graduated from Universidad Católica de Chile. Some highlights of his political career are: Mayor of the borough of Providencia from 1981 to 1982, his candidacy for senator for Region IV 1989 and his performance as counselor of Santiago’s City Council from 1992 to 1996. Columnist of La Segunda newspaper and commentator of Radio Nacional. Currently is director of Santa Carolina SA and Cintra S.A.; Counselor for Finis Terrae University, Instituto de Estudios Polìticos at Andrés Bello University, Vice Chairman of Corporación para el Desarrollo de Santiago, senior partner of the Chadwick y Cia. law office. And member of the board and partner of several real estate offices. He also participates as a stable panelist in the talk show “Improvisando” in UCV television.

Jorge Carey Tagle

Designation period:  2001-2008

Attorney at Law, graduated at Universidad Católica de Chile. Fullbright Scholarship, New York University School of Law. He worked as an attorney for the International Monetary Fund. Main partner of the law firm Carey & Co. Vice-Chairman of the Chilean-Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Director of Instituto Libertad, National Counselor of Renovación Nacional and board director for several companies, such as: Cìa. Cervecerìas Unidas, Editorial Lord Cochrane and Aetna, among others.

Jorge Donoso Pacheco

Designation Period: 2001 - 2008

Attorney at Law, graduated from Universidad de Chile and Journalist from Universidad de Santiago. In the 60’s, was Chief of Staff of the Justice and Home Office Ministers. Head of the Vicaría de la Solidaridad Labor Dept. from 1976 to 1978 and head of the legal department until 1981. Consultant to the National Union Coordinating Office and the National Workers Group from 1982 to 1986. During the 80’s, was director of the Fortín Mapocho newspaper. From 1992 to 1994,  Chairman of the Board of Televisión Nacional. Assistant Manager at La Nación newspaper in the late 90’s. Currently is Director of Public Affairs, Codelco Chile.

Consuelo Valdés Chadwick

Designation Period: 2001 - 2008

Archaeologist, Master of Anthropology. Academic professor. Founder of National Museums Coordination, president of the International Council of Museums –ICOM Chile, in the 80’s. She was the first manager of Cultural Projects for Fundación Andes. Since 1993 to date she holds the position of Director of Corporación Artequin’s Steering Committee. Is also member of the Chilean Archaeology Society, International Council of Museums and of the American Association of Museums (U.S.A.). Currently she is also a  consultant for the city of La Serena’s town council on publicity and conservation of its heritage. 

María Luisa Brahm

Designation period of 2004-2012

Lawyer graduated from Universidad Catolica Law School. In the 1980’s she worked for the National Planning Office (Name in Spanish: Oficina de Planificación Nacional) where she took part in the elaboration of public policy and represented the executive power in the approval of law projects.

She was also in charge of ministry programs and participated in the State modernization. In 1990 Mrs. Brahm was appointed Director of the Legislation Assistance Area in the Instituto Libertad where she currently is the executive Director. In 2004 she was appointed member of the Council of High Public Direction (Consejo de Alta Dirección Pública) which checks the competence of people proposed by the President for high government jobs.

Juan Hamilton
 
Designation period:  2004-2012

Attorney at Law, graduated from University de Chile. He was Minister of Housing and Urban Development and Undersecretary of the Interior in the government of President Eduardo Frei Montalva. He was Senator of the Republic representing Chiloé, Aysén and Magallanes in the decade of the 70’s. Between the numerous initiatives that he has impelled throughout his political career, one was the law that established the First Statute of the Chilean Television, the one that created National Televisión (TVN) and the one that founded the National Council of Televisión (CNTV). In 1990 was appointed as  Minister of Mines, position that let because he was elected senator representing Valparaíso, the main port in Chile. He was founding and co-owner of the Magazine "HOY” and the newspaper "La Epoca" and has written numerous articles of opinion in the newspapers "Las Ultimas Noticias”, “La Segunda” and “El Mercuio” from Valparaiso. Actually he presides the Corporation of Political and Social Studies of Valparaíso. 

Sofía Salamovich

Designation period:  2004-2012

Medical Surgeon of the University of Chile with specialization in psychiatry and post degree in Psychological Medicine, University of Leeds, Great Britain. Practice Clinic and Psicotherapeutics from 1971 to the date. Between years 1974-1977 it exerted like medical psychiatrist in diverse hospitals of Great Britain. Professor of the School of Psychology of the University Diego Portales between 1988 -1989, She wrote columns for the magazine “El Sábado” from the national newspaper “El Mercurio”in 2000 and actually she is writing columns for the magazine “Mujer” from the national newspaper “La Tercera”. Throughout his academic trajectory she has made diverse work-shops, expositions and seminaries about psycotherapy and social psychology in Chile and New Delhi, India.

Gonzalo Cordero

Designation period: 2006 a 2012

Attorney at Law, graduated from Universidad católica de Chile, is the director of the School of Law from the Andrés Bello University, professor of Political Law. He is writing habitual columns for the national newspaper “La Tercera”. He was director of the legislative area of the “Foundation Jaime Guzmán” and is consultant in matters of communications and public affairs. 

Maria Elena Hermosilla 

Designation period:  2007-2008

Journalist, graduated in the Universidad de Chile and specialist in social communication (television, communication and gender, public policies in communication and communication and social policies). She is magister in Communication from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has been professor in Schools of Journalism and Facultes of Communication in Brazil and Chile. From 1997 to 2001,  member of the National Council of TV (CNTV). In the international ambit, she has been President of the Region of Latin America of the World-wide Association for Christian Communication (WACC), between 1999 and 2003. She has been granted a scholarship twice ocassions by the Government of France to study communications. Between her numerous publications they are "Mujer TV", published by CENECA, altogether with Paula Edwards and Soledad Cortés; "Explorando la Recepción Televisiva” (CENECA), and "Mujer y Radio Popular” (ALER), altogether with Rosa Maria Alfaro, Maria Cristina Mata and other authors. Actually, is again member of the National Council of TV (CNTV).

Guillermo Laurent, Secretary General

Attorney at Law, graduated at Universidad de  Chile in 1974. Later he made studies of postdegree in the University of Bonn, (Germany) first in constitutional, administrative and international public law,  and, later  in political science. In the exercise of his profession Mr. Laurent has involved, among other institutions, in the Bishopric of Temuco, the Chilean Commission of Human rights, in the Agricultural and Cattle Raising Service and, the Ministry General Secretariat of Government, the Agency of Internacional Cooperation, and the Ministry of Health, resides the private exercise. In educational matters, he has been professor of the universities Santo Tomás and Miguel de Cervantes in Santiago, and Andrés Bello in  Temuco
